Betty Jones Klepser

Betty J. Klepser passed away at Brighton Gardens of Northville in Plymouth, Mich., on Aug. 2, 2012, at the age of 88. Betty was born in Suffolk, Va., on May 20, 1924, the daughter of Herman A. and Cora A. (Gardner) Jones.

She resided in Virginia where she graduated from Suffolk High School and later received her bachelor’s degree in business education from Longwood College in Farmville. She taught high school in Suffolk and Martinsville, and for a time worked for the Foreign Service in Washington, D.C.

Betty married Roy Klepser in 1958, and he preceded her in death in 2002. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Berniece J. Rawls and Annette J. Birdsong. She loved to read, but her true joy in life was her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hibbard, and grandsons Ben, Jack and Joe Hibbard, of Plymouth, and stepdaughters Mary Priem and Carolyn Klepser. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Linda Culliton, Corinne Winburn, Hank and Warren Birdsong, and great-niece and -nephew, Leslie Hendricker and Thomas Winburn.

A memorial service will be held at Suffolk Christian Church on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
