Man injured in house fire

Rescue workers rush to put out a fire Sunday that started in a vehicle in a man’s driveway and spread to his Swansea Circle home. The man was taken to the hospital, but his current condition is unknown.

One man was hospitalized after his car caught fire and spread to his home Sunday afternoon.

The man was working on his 1986 Mercedes-Benz in the driveway of his home in the 4400 block of Swansea Circle, in a neighborhood off Sleepy Hole Road, according to a press release from the city. His car caught fire, and the fire spread to the single-story home.

Three engines, one ladder truck, two medics and two battalion chiefs responded. The resident was transported by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
