Tigers pounce on NRHS

Nansemond River High School was rocked on the road Friday, losing 49-0 to Oscar Smith High School, last year’s AAA Division 6 state champion.
The Warriors could not stop Oscar Smith quarterback Dashawn Blow, who completed 12 of 19 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns.
Nansemond River also hurt its own cause early, fumbling on its first two possessions, which lead to Tiger touchdowns.
“And then they put together a good drive, and, shoot, within five minutes we were down 21-0,” NR head coach Tracey Parker Sr. said. “So, they jumped on us early, and that helped their confidence and it didn’t help ours a whole lot.”
Nansemond River (1-3, 0-3) hosts Deep Creek (0-4-1, 0-3) next Friday.
