On Sept. 23, 2012, heaven obtained another angel through the passing of Dorothy Mae Walker Horton. She was born May 8, 1939, to the late David and Ophelia Rodgers Walker. She was preceded in death by her brother, William D. Walker, and sister, Theresa Walker Hicks.

She graduated in the class of 1956 from East Suffolk High School. She was a faithful member of Christian Home Baptist Church, Windsor, Va.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her husband of 45 years, Zack Horton Jr.; one loving and faithful daughter, Bridgette Horton Rider; one devoted son-in-law, Jerome Rider; one grandson, Carwyn Jerome Rider; three loving sisters, Dollie O. Frazier, B. Lavonne Williams (Johnnie) and Sandra Warren, all of Suffolk; one brother-in-law, Theodore R. Hicks; one sister-in-law, Pearleen H. Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at noon, at Christian Home Baptist Church in Windsor, Va., officiated by the Rev. Wendell Waller. Interment will be in the Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the home of Bridgette Horton Rider, 212 Water Pointe Way, Suffolk.
