Byrum has ‘impressive’ schools record

To the editor:
It is no secret that Phyllis Collier Byrum, running for Suffolk School Board in the Whaleyville Borough, has outstanding qualifications and experience. Her record of bringing School Board staff, teachers, parents and students together for the benefit of our children is impressive.
I was the secretary at Robertson Elementary School for 38 years, and Robertson was the heart of our community. When the argument was advanced to close our school, Phyllis was the only School Board member to vote to keep Robertson Elementary School open.
This is why my husband and I are voting for our community friend.
For the past four years, Phyllis has served our Suffolk School Board. She is one who can be reached as important matters arise. She talks so sensibly about issues. And she brings a sensitivity needed to make decisions that reflect what is best for all students.
Thanks to all of you who will cast your vote for Phyllis Collier Byrum and the future of Suffolk schools. After all, our children are our future.
