Denise Langston Walden

Denise Langston Walden was born on July 20, 1953, in Suffolk, Va., to Ernestine Taylor Langston and the late George Weaver Langston. Affectionately nicknamed “Dean” by her nuclear family, Denise was the oldest of two children born to this union. She passed on to eternal life the 21st day of October 2012.

Denise attended and became a member of Mineral Spring Baptist Church at an early age. She was an active member of the Sunday school and served as the Sunday school pianist for many years.

Walden

A graduate of Forest Glen High School, Denise earned an associate of arts degree from Smithdeal-Massey Business College, Richmond, Va. After college, she returned to Suffolk to pursue a career in the banking industry.

Denise leaves to cherish her memory a beloved son, Weaver Kenneth Walden (GeRita); a faithful and devoted mother, Ernestine Taylor Langston; loving and loyal sister, Billie Joy Langston; three grandchildren, Lauryn, Lyndsay and Christopher Walden; special uncle, John H. Taylor Jr.; three aunts, Doris Parker, Ellen Palmer and Bertha Taylor; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing service will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Mineral Spring Baptist Church, 4849 Mineral Spring Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Alan R. Hunt. Interment will be in the Langston Cemetery. Crocker Funeral is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
