Derrick Boggess moved out front on the 40th circuit and rolled to victory in the 50-lap Enduro race, the featured event of Saturday afternoon’s Seventh Annual “Day of Destruction,” which marked the end of Langley Speedway’s 62nd season of competition.
Longtime Enduro ace Mike Ganoe drew the pole for the start and jumped out to a huge lead in the early going. His effort was derailed, though, by a tangle on the backstretch on lap 19.
While Ganoe struggled to right his machine, Larry Drommerhausen assumed the top spot and showed the way through lap 34.
Danny Harrell took the lead on lap 35. Five laps later, however, he gave way to Boggess, who paced the field to the checkered flag.
The win was worth $1,000 to Boggess, while Drommerhausen collected $500 for his second-place outing, and Shawn Gervais picked up $300 for third.
Saturday’s other event winners included:
- Appliance Race — Craig Eastep
