Roads reopen after gas leak

Two North Suffolk roads were expected to reopen at 5 p.m. after being partially shut down because of a gas leak for part of the afternoon.

The leak happened near the intersection of Bridge Road and Bennetts Pasture Road. A contractor had been performing work at that location. Police were notified a gas line had been damaged about 2:15 p.m., according to a press release from the city.

Columbia Gas also responded.

The right-hand turn lane on Bennetts Pasture Road was expected to remain closed while repairs were made.

The Bennett’s Creek Shoppes, which were evacuated, have reopened, according to the release.
