To the editor:

Each week, we are reading the articles about how great our local high school football players are doing. I have a son who plays football at one of the local high schools and am a big supporter of his team.

I also have a daughter who is a cheerleader at one of the other high schools. The cheerleaders at all the high schools work extremely hard at practice every day after school and do a great job supporting their team.

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Southeast District Cheerleading Competition and was amazed at how wonderfully Nansemond River, Lakeland and King’s Fork high schools performed. The teams should all be very proud of themselves.

The Nansemond River Varsity Cheerleaders will be performing at Churchland High School tomorrow in the regional competition. Good luck to them with both of their performances on Saturday. I know they will do great!
