An application deadline for participants in the Suffolk Holiday Parade has been extended to this Friday.

Groups and businesses are encouraged to enter the parade, which will be held Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in downtown Suffolk.

The theme for the parade is “Holidays in Toyland.” The application fee is $50.

Prizes associated with the parade will include $200 each for the best marching unit, best animal unit, best float, best specialty unit, best motorized unit and best in show awards and $10 for the judges’ choice award. For marching bands, school and non-school bands will be in separate categories, and each category will have first-, second- and third-place awards worth $300, $200 and $100, respectively.
