Beulah Nay Saunders, 87, of the 200 block of Bedford Court, passed away Nov. 16 at her residence.

She was born in Nansemond County, Va., to the late James and Mary Wilkins. Beulah is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar A. Saunders Jr.; son, Ernest Roosevelt Craig Jr.; step-daughter, Antoinette Saunders-Mauldin; two brothers, James Robert and Floyd Wilkins; sister, Catherine Holoman; and niece, Theresa Gibbons.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Valarie Saunders, of Norfolk, Va., and Darlene Banks (Kevin), of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Oscar A. Saunders III, of Georgia; sister, Rosa Williams, of Suffolk, Va.; brother, Alphonso Wilkins Sr., of Amityville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous loved ones.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 23, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Metropolitan Funeral Service, 5605 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, Va. Homegoing service is Nov. 24 at St. Paul Baptist Church, 806 Lincoln Ave., Suffolk, Va. Interment will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va.
