IWA dominates in first game of season

Isle of Wight Academy jumped out to a quick first-quarter lead against Virginia Beach Friends School, en route to a 62-26 win Tuesday night in the season opener for both squads.
IWA was led by 19 points by senior Nathan Sivertson, who also finished with a game-high 9 rebounds. Sivertson also scored 11 of his team’s 17 points in the first quarter. The Chargers’ Gage Rogers was second in rebounds, with eight.
IWA ran off the game’s first 17 points before Friends scored with 45.6 seconds left in the opening period on a three-pointer by Walker Thomas, who scored 16 to lead the Green Wave. Four of Thomas’ points were scored from behind the arc.
IWA also got 10 points from senior Hunter Triplett.
