Saints fall hard to Collegiate

The Nansemond-Suffolk varsity boys’ basketball team was soundly defeated by Collegiate School, 48-19, in Richmond on Saturday.
NSA head coach Randolph Davis indicated said the Saints continued to suffer from familiar problems.
“We just can’t score,” he said. “I thought we played pretty well everywhere else.”
“Everywhere else” included defense. Davis said that whenever a team can hold its opponent to 48 points at the high school level, it should have a chance to win. Unfortunately, the Saints could not match the quality of their defensive performance with their play on the other end of the court.
Nansemond-Suffolk (0-8, 0-0) will return to action after Christmas, participating in a tournament at Peninsula Catholic High School beginning on Wednesday. The Saints will face off against Isle of Wight with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
