John Robert Crumpler

John Robert Crumpler, 85, of Suffolk, Va., passed away Dec. 26, 2012. He was born in Isle of Wight County, Va., to the late Charlie and Maude Odey Crumpler. He is also predeceased by three sisters, Berta C. Hooker, Josie C. Nelms and Anne C. Edwards, and brother, Henry Crumpler. Robert served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Ford automobile salesman for 40 years, most recently with Barton Ford. He was a member of TPA Post P and Woodmen of the World. Robert loved to fish and spend time with people, especially his family.

Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Johnson Crumpler; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda C. and George Pearce, of Manteo, N.C., Patricia C. and Art Forrester, and Cindy C. and Dan Clements; son and daughter-in-law, John R. Crumpler II and Terri Crumpler, all of Suffolk; grandchildren, Denise A. Pearce, Davis Pearce, Amy F. Willette, Carson Forrester, Lisa C. Lucas, Dan Clements Jr., Jesse Clements, Derek Clements and J. Robert Crumpler III; five great-grandchildren; brother, John Thomas Crumpler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434 with the Rev. Tommy Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O.
