Nansemond-Suffolk Academy finished 0-3 at the Peninsula Catholic High School Holiday Classic with a last-second 47-44 loss to Hampton Christian on Friday afternoon.
The score was tied at 44 with just over two seconds to play when the Warriors hit a three-pointer for the deciding points.
Freshman guard Morgan Wentz led the Saints with 14 points, freshman guard/forward Logan Lokie had nine and junior forward Steven Minter supplied seven points and eight rebounds. Junior forward John Hogan was key for NSA but was hampered by foul trouble that kept him out of most of the first half, and he fouled out in the fourth quarter. He scored all of his seven points during a strong third quarter.
The Saints had suffered another narrow defeat on Thursday against Alliance Christian, 53-51.
In that game, Minter led the team with 17 points and had nine rebounds. Hogan had 12 points and 17 rebounds and Wentz scored 15 points.
NSA (0-11, 0-0) travels to Petersburg to play the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School next Thursday.
