Mary Lee Whitaker, 90, of Suffolk, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Nansemond Pointe Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Lee Andrew and Maude Whitaker, of Sunbury, N.C. She was also preceded in death by her son, Vernon Riddick, and daughter, Louise Whitaker.

She was a licensed Missionary at her church, Greater St. Stephens Holiness Church in Whaleyville. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Janie Ralph and Estelle Whitaker, both of Suffolk, and Dorothy Boone, of Norfolk; two sons, Willie Whitaker (Sandra), of Ivor, Va., and Jerry Whitaker (Phebe), of Suffolk.

A homegoing celebration will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Christian Church, 2500 E. Washington St., Suffolk, by her pastor, the Rev. Aaron Porter. The family will receive friends at 106 St. James Ave., Suffolk, from 4 to 10 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
