Support Medicaid expansion in Virginia

To the editor:
The Affordable Care Act allows Virginia to provide health coverage for more than 300,000 Virginians by expanding Medicaid coverage, while boosting Virginia’s economy and creating jobs.
The Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis reported that expanding Medicaid would generate more than $2 billion for Virginia and create 26,700 new jobs. Expanding medical care would also provide medical coverage to millions of hard-working people who hold jobs but would otherwise be uninsured.
Unfortunately, Gov. Bob McDonnell opposes the measure.
I urge Delegate Chris Jones to support Medicaid expansion, because it is the right thing to do for both individuals and the Virginia economy.
