A Suffolk man pleaded guilty Friday to murdering a 60-year-old woman in her home.

George Eure III, 24, faces up to 55 years in prison when he is sentenced May 10. Evidence showed he stabbed Amelia Lou Mustin more than 75 times, Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Will Jamerson said. Police found her body July 11 after neighbors had not seen her for a couple days and grew concerned.

Jamerson said Eure gave a statement and initially denied committing the crime. But then, he said Mustin had told him to get out of the house, and he refused, and she came after him with a knife. He took the knife from her and stabbed her, Eure said in his statement.

Jamerson said the woman’s family agreed to the plea agreement, which caps Eure’s possible active sentence at 55 years. Eure pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and stabbing in the commission of a felony. A charge of abduction will not be prosecuted, as part of the agreement.
