John Frank Knight, 78, of 6434 Carrsville Highway, Carrsville, Va., died Monday, March 4, 2013, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Matthew Knight and Jefferson Knight. He was born Oct. 1, 1934, to Bertha Knight and the late Linwood Knight.

He attended Carrsville Training School. He retired as a longshoreman. He was a member of Pulaski Baptist Church, where he was the superintendent of Sunday School, past chairman of the Deacon Board, a member of the Male Chorus, Gospel Choir, Carrsville Community Day member, former member of the New Golden Trumpeters, Heavenly Light, Royal Crown Quartet.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary J. Knight; daughter, Gloria K. Harris (Douglas), of Chester, Va.; son, Anthony E. Knight, of Carrsville; sisters, Sylvia K. Dixon (Harrison), of Gloucester, Va., Regina K. Mason (Earl), of Chester, Va., and Maryland K. Roberts, of Carrsville, Va.; brothers, Bobby W. Knight (Audrey), of Suffolk, Va., Woodrow M. Knight (Alice), of Upper Marlboro, Md., Ernest L. Knight (Brenda), of Franklin, Va., and Jessie M. Knight, of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Douglas Harris Jr. and Anthony McCoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Pulaski Baptist Church, 6431 Carrsville Highway in Carrsville, officiated by Dr. Robert E. Rogers. Interment will be in the Knight Family Cemetery in Carrsville. The body will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
