Mrs. Retha Savage Caine, age 96, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born on Feb. 13, 1917, in Tarboro, N.C.

Retha was a faithful member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and retired from Planters Peanuts.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Myra C Waters, Belinda Caine and Sheila Mclellan, and one son-in-law, Deacon John C. Waters; one brother, Theodria Savage, of Maryland, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Savage, of Suffolk, and Louise Savage, of North Carolina; several grand- and great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Caine will be on view at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m., and the family will greet guests from 5 to 6 p.m.. A funeral will take place on Monday at noon at Pleasant Union Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
