The Suffolk Art League is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Suffolk Art League/Chip Picot Memorial Student Scholarship.
This student scholarship is available to students entering grades six to 12 in the 2013-2014 school year. This is not a college scholarship. Students must either live in or attend school in Suffolk, whether public, private or home school.
This year, the art league is offering up to $1,500 in scholarship funds for students to pursue their interests in the visual, performing or literary arts. They may use their scholarship funding for such things as taking classes or lessons, purchase of materials, instruments or equipment or attending workshops or conferences.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 25. Applications must include a completed application form, a brief essay written by the student and a recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other knowledgeable person.
Scholarship applications will be available from Suffolk school guidance offices and arts teachers (visual, band, chorus or theater). They are also available at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., or by calling the Suffolk Art League office at 925-0448 or visiting www.suffolkartleague.org.
