John Lawson Grizzle Sr., 86, passed away March 19, 2013, in Windsor.

Born in Georgia, he was the son of the late Lillie May and Eustis F. Grizzle and the widower of Audrey H. Grizzle.

He worked with the Atlantic and Danville Railroad as a telegraph operator and was a retired Realtor with Parker-Rupp Realty Co. Mr. Grizzle also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his sons, John L. Grizzle Jr., of Newport News, and Rick L. Grizzle, of Virginia Beach; six grandsons and one granddaughter; two stepsons, John A. Johnson and Robert Johnson; four step-grandsons; and one step-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., by the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
