Joyce F. Turner

Mrs. Joyce Freeman Turner was born on Sept. 9, 1964, to Marcellious Walker and the late Barbara Ann Freeman Parker. A native of Suffolk, she was a 1982 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. Joyce was preceded in death by her grandparents Della Freeman and Elizabeth Walker.

She leaves to cherish her memories are her husband, Kent Carver, of North Carolina; stepmother, Iris Walker of Portsmouth, Va.; her three sons, James Turner Jr. (Patrice), JaMarr Turner and Javon Turner, all of Suffolk, Va.; stepchildren, Phillip, KC, Carver, LaToya Harper and Sylvia; one devoted sister, Linda Joyner (Thomas), of Suffolk, Va., four brothers, Marcellious Walker Jr. (Lisette), Marlin Walker, both of Portsmouth, Va.; James Parker Jr. (Jennifer), and Derrick Parker, both of Suffolk, Va.; aunts, Elsie Mae Boone, of Suffolk, Va., Laura Rodger (John), of Como, N.C., and devoted aunt/caretaker, Shirley Mae Simpson, of Suffolk, Va.; nieces, Lateisha Freeman, Joi Parker and Brandy Terry; nephews, Lamarr Joyner, Dillon Parker, Marlin Walker and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The home going service will be Friday, April 5, 2013, at noon at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministry located at 307 County St., Suffolk, Va. The family will receive visitors at the home of Linda Joyner.
