Delegate S. Chris Jones will receive the Outstanding Legislative Service Award from the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association during the group’s annual spring meeting later this month.

He will be one of two delegates to receive the award this year, because of his support for public safety throughout the state, according to a press release.

“Because of Delegate Jones’ seniority, commitment and respect by his peers in the General Assembly, he is well positioned to represent public safety across the commonwealth and his community in particular in the General Assembly,” said John W. Jones, executive director of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association.

More than 240 sheriffs will be gathering in Portsmouth to present the award. The award will be presented by Suffolk Sheriff Raleigh Isaacs on behalf of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association.

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Association represents more than 8,700 sheriffs and deputies across Virginia and each year recognizes certain legislators who have demonstrated their willingness to support law enforcement legislative initiatives in the Virginia General Assembly.
