Vera Grey (Sadler) Edwards was born on July 2, 1929, in Nansemond County, Va. She was the daughter of Esmond Sadler Sr. and Gladys Chandler Sadler and was the fifth of six children. She was preceded in death by four of her siblings, her husband Bill, and her son Bobby. Vera is survived by her sister, Kay Whitley, and numerous other relatives.

Vera spent the last eight years of her life in Houston, Texas. While there she was cared for by her sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Roger Whitley, her niece and nephew, Lisa and Norm Smith, and great-niece, Kasey Smith.

She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She was surrounded by her family. A memorial service was held in Houston and a graveside service was held at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk.
