The Lewis F. Morris Memorial Scholarship Committee has agreed to allow the Suffolk Foundation to begin distribution of The Lewis F. Morris Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship was established by former students and friends of Chuckatuck High School, where Lewis Morris was a teacher, coach and principal from 1952 to 1965.

He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and came from a family of educators, according to a press release announcing the scholarship. He led by example and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a fierce competitor who taught his athletes and other students the highest principles of sportsmanship and fairness. His leadership, friendship, inspiration, dedication and philosophy that education and discipline will mold the youth of today into the leaders of tomorrow, was his students’ incentive to learn.
