The Rev. John W. Ricks Sr., a Suffolk native and son of Leander and Annie Vann Ricks, departed this earthly realm and entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 15, 2013.

He was a resident of Washington, D.C., and was the father of seven children, John Ricks Sr. (Beatrice), Andrew Ricks (deceased), Gloria Wethington, Elizabeth Haskett (William), Laura Hawkins, Gail Jordan (Michael) and Marion Ricks (William); and two stepchildren, Shirley Morris (George), and Cathaleen Jordan (Darryl).
