Free mosquito dunks available

With the return of warm weather, Suffolk also has seen the return of mosquitoes, and city officials once again are offering free help in limiting the mosquito population.
Placing “mosquito dunks” in stagnant water habitats is a common practice used to eliminate mosquito larvae.
To get the free Mosquito Dunks, you must be 18 years of age or older, have proof of residence in the City of Suffolk, show proper photo identification and sign the information Sheet at the place of distribution. Residents can pick up only one package of mosquito dunks per month and cannot pick them up for another resident.
The best way to use the product is to break up the dunk into small pieces. Use protective gloves while breaking the dunks apart. Smaller pieces are easier to spread and allow you to cover more area, as well as extending the use of the dunks. There is a label provided with the package with more instructions on proper use.
