SUFFOLK — Edward Truitt “Rusty” Ellis, 93, of Suffolk, son of the late Duke E. Ellis and Alma B. Ellis, passed away at Lake Prince Woods on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Rickey Ellis. Mr. Ellis was the youngest and last living sibling in a family of 10 children. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, and known well to many in the Suffolk area as a general contractor and avid golfer. He also enjoyed afternoon luncheons with his fellow church members and a good game of pinochle. Mr. Ellis also served in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his two sons, Michael E. Ellis and wife, Trudy E., of Richmond, and Mark S. Ellis and wife, Bonnie C., of Suffolk; grandchildren, Stephanie E. Tucker and husband, Logan, Mathew E., Joshua M., and Kyle S. Ellis; and step-grandchildren, Kellie R. and Michael E. Connolly Jr.
A funeral service will conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013, in Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Donations may be made in honor of “Rusty” to the Holland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 7236, Suffolk, VA 23437 or Suffolk Christian Church, Saints Alive, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434.
