Armento Scott Cross, 70, of 2000 Regency Drive, Suffolk, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at her residence. She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of the late Charlie Scott and Gladys Scott (Faltz). She was preceded in death by her husband, Elfonsey Cross.

She graduated from East Suffolk High School and attended Kee Business College. She retired as a licensed childcare provider for nearly 30 years and operated Cross Family Day Care. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Cynthia Howell and Jeanette Scott, both of Suffolk; three sons, Erick Cross (Tameika), Todd Cross (Ebony) and Johnny Scott (Portia), all of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; six sisters, Barbara Scott, of Suffolk, Mary Scott, of New York, N.Y., Maurice Reid Scott, of Corapeake, N.C., Gloria Scott, Diane Scott, both of Suffolk, and Betty Sue Scott, of Chester; one brother, MacDonald Crouss (Sue), of Boston, Mass.; special nieces and nephews, Mac Scott, Serena Scott, Diane Bailey, Donald Scott, Arthur Scott, Timothy Scott, Tamekia Scott and LaVerne Scott; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at Canaan Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Raphael Elliot. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
