Mary Magdalene Rudd Boone, 83, of 4005 Sun Valley Crescent, Chesapeake, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. She was a native of Portsmouth and the daughter of the late Maylios Rudd and Allabelle Cooper Rudd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Boone.

She received a B.S. degree from Elizabeth City State University. She was a member of Zeta Pi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She retired from Norfolk Public School System as a teacher. Mary was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, where she was on the usher board, Pastor’s Aide and the First Bible Class of Sunday School.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Yolanda Branch (Bishop Robert), of Chesapeake; two sisters, Lizzie Richardson, of Chesapeake, and Barbara Smith (Walter), of Disputanta; one brother, William Rudd (Sara), of Newport News; one grandchild, Alonzo Ricks, Jr. (Tiffany), of Suffolk; one great-grandchild, Alonah Ricks, of Suffolk; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and concerned neighbors.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, officiated by the Rev. Vernon Hairston and Bishop Robert Branch. Interment will be in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
