Volunteer searchers on Wednesday evening found a horse that had been missing since Monday.

Bella was found about 6 p.m. off a gravel road that connects Greenway Road to Carolina Road. The mare had disappeared Monday morning after getting spooked and throwing her rider near the intersection of Greenway and Cypress Chapel roads.

“She has lots of ticks, scratches, some thorns and was given electrolytes for dehydration,” posted Michele De Vinney Schmoll on a Facebook page that had been set up to help find Bella. “Donijo Atkins is one happy horse owner right now. All the searchers and people that have been helping were wonderful.”
