Suffolk Democrats, along with voters throughout the state, will head to the polls today to choose candidates to run on the statewide ticket under gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe.

Aneesh Chopra and Ralph S. Northam are running for the lieutenant governor nomination, while Justin E. Fairfax and Mark R. Herring compete for the attorney general slot on the ballot.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Acceptable forms of identification include a Virginia voter registration card, valid Virginia river’s license, military ID, any federal, Virginia or local government-issued ID, employer-issued photo ID, concealed handgun permit, valid student ID issued by a college or university in Virginia, current utility bill, bank statement, government check or paycheck.
