Rosa Lee West Darden, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2013. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roosevelt West Jr., and her sister, Emily Covington. She was born on June 5, 1932, in Nansemond County, to the late Roosevelt T. West, Sr. and Lucille A. West.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 45 years, Lorenza Darden; her devoted children, Carol Carter, Patricia Stanley (James), and Lydia Turner, of Hampton, Linda Darden, of Newport News, Frank Jones (Marietta), of Chesapeake, and Earl Darden (Angela), of Fort Worth, Texas. Rosa Lee also leaves to carry on her legacy 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves her brother, Clarence West Sr. (Orpah); her sister, Barbara Copeland; sister-in-law, Marilyn West, of Suffolk; brother-in-law, Harry Darden (Bea), of Hampton. She will also be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Miracle Temple Baptist Church, 617 32nd St., Newport News, with Dr. Floyd M. Blackwell, eulogist, and Dr. Anthony Cooper, presiding pastor. Entombment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
