BayPort Credit Union hosted its annual scholarship banquet May 14 at the Mariners’ Museum and awarded more than $50,000 to deserving scholastic recipients.

This year’s banquet honored 20 winners from across the Greater Hampton Roads area and Quaker Hill, Conn. Chris Reckling, local TV personality from WAVY TV 10’s “Hampton Roads Show” was this year’s guest speaker and spoke about his experiences on television as well as his educational journey.

Kirsten Roth of Carrollton was among the scholarship recipients.

“BayPort takes great pride in being able to offer these scholarships,” said George Dudley Jr., president and chief executive officer of BayPort. “Over the past 52 years, we have met a great number of extraordinary students, all that have touched us in one way or another, and played a role in helping them continue their education.”

Since 1961, BayPort Credit Union has awarded more than $700,000 in scholarships.
