Paul D. Camp Community College has launched a Twitter feed.
“We know that communications through social media are only going to increase, particularly among our younger students,” said college President Paul Conco said. “We are pleased to secure this additional platform.”
Social media platforms, including Twitter, have provided uses for more than just connecting with friends.
“We are finding social media has critically important strategic communications uses,” said Felicia Blow, vice president for institutional advancement. “For example, during emergencies, such as storms or other crises, social media has been found to be a critical means to effectively get the word out about key steps.”
The new Twitter feed @PDCCC will be used to update students about activities, news and other information and will complement the college’s other platforms and interactive online tools, including Flickr, Facebook and the website at www.pdc.edu.
“From our recent launch of mobile apps, to Facebook, Flicker and now Twitter, we are working to expand and enhance our means to connect with students, alumni and our surrounding communities,” Blow said.
Jake Bradshaw has been named the college’s “lead social media ambassador,” according to a college press release. He can be reached at jbradshaw@pdc.edu.
