UPDATE: Tonight’s TGIF concert with The Deloreans at Constant’s Wharf is canceled because of soaked ground and more rain in the forecast. The next TGIF will be held July 19 at Constant’s Wharf with The Fuzz Band.

Suffolk Parks and Recreation softball games also are canceled for tonight because of wet field conditions.

Yesterday: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Suffolk and surrounding areas.

Showers and thunderstorms producing heavy downpours will persist through Friday afternoon because of an approaching cold front, the weather service said. Additional rain over already-saturated ground will enhance the potential for flash flooding.

Flooding due to poor drainage in urban and rural areas may develop quickly. Road closures and detours in low-lying areas and near small streams may be necessary.
