Vehicle owners in a North Suffolk neighborhood off Shoulders Hill Road lost a variety of personal property after unidentified marauders broke into their cars on Friday.
About five incidents were reported on Weatherby Way, Ithaca Trail and Buckhorne Crescent. Property lost included laptop computers, cellphones, purses, navigation devices, sunglasses and more, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.
“In almost all of these instances, the doors to the vehicles were left unlocked,” Klink wrote in an email. “While many of our citizens feel they live in ‘safe’ neighborhoods, we want to encourage that everyone takes the proper safety precautions and lock their homes and automobiles to prevent these types of situations from occurring in the future.”
In neighborhoods off Bridge Road, other incidents were reported Saturday, including three on Breezeport Way and one on Nicklaus Drive. It was not clear Monday if the two sets were related.
