City identifies Olde Town shooting victim

Suffolk police have identified the man who was hospitalized after he was shot while returning from work Wednesday night.

Edward Wiggins, 50, underwent surgery at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after surviving the shooting, which happened about 11:16 p.m.

According to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink, Wiggins was shot from the rear as he got out of his vehicle in his backyard upon returning home from work.

The victim went to a neighbor’s house for assistance, and the suspect fled on foot, Klink stated in a press release.

Wiggins was transported by ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line do not have to give their names or appear in court. If information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
