Vernon Lee Hall, 84, of 4013 Breakwater Drive, Portsmouth, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Consulate Health Care of Windsor.

He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Henry Hall and Mary E. Hall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Hall; daughter, Gloria Cotton; sister, Dorothy Ruffin; two brothers, Fred H. Hall and Edward E. Hall.

He retired as a truck driver.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Joe Everett (Lillian), of Portsmouth; two sisters, Mary Beasley, of Connecticut, and Annie Stroud, of Suffolk; six brothers, Baily Hall Sr. (Daisie), Clinton Hall (Irene), William Hall (Beulah), McCray Hall (Ann), Joe Hall (Regina), all of Suffolk, and James Hall (Sachie), of New York; five grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home officiated by Bishop Early Gay Jr. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
