A new class at Paul D. Camp Community College will teach participants how to get away from using the “auto” mode on their digital SLR cameras.

“Get More from Your Camera” will be held Sept. 10 and 17, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at PDCCC in Smithfield, Room 212. The deadline for registration is Sept. 4.

Participants will learn how to shoot photos in all modes, including “manual.” The class will cover basic camera mechanics, the selection of file types, shooting modes, using flash, fundamentals of exposure, shutter speed, f-stops and ISO settings. White balance, metering modes and focus will also be discussed.
