Troy A. Joyner, 47, of 1003 73rd St., Newport News, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Sentara Careplex in Hampton. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of Ernest Evans and the late Nellie Joyner. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Neelie J. Joyner.

He was employed as a shipfitter at Northrop Grumman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Avis Joyner; four sons, Juwan Joyner, of Newport News, Dion Kee, of Hampton, Antonio Bowser, of Newport News, and Kavonta Kee of Hampton; five sisters, Arlene V. Hicks, Tabatha Joyner, both of Suffolk, Caron Evans, of Williamsburg, Wandy Evans, of Newport News, and Monica Bowlin, of Waverly; three brothers, Troy Branch, of Prince George, Douglas Clary, of Surry, and Anthony Conner, of Wakefield; father-in-law, Walter Knight, and mother-in-law, Mary Knight, of Suffolk; maternal grandmother, Ruth E. Joyner; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministry officiated by the Rev. Ronnie Boone. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
