Suffolk announces Labor Day schedule

In observance of Labor Day, Suffolk city offices will be closed Monday. Normal operations will resume Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will remain open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, but all city libraries will be closed, as will the Suffolk Art Gallery. The gallery will reopen Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. for an opening reception for the Waterways exhibit.
Booker T. Washington, Creekside, Mack Benn Jr., Northern Shores, Oakland, King’s Fork and East Suffolk recreation centers will all be closed on Monday.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek — will remain open Monday, but no park attendants will be on duty.
The Suffolk Executive Airport will also remain open Monday.
Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled next week. TFC Recycling will also conduct its normal recycling collection routes. Trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection.

The Southeastern Public Safety Authority Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, but the regional landfill will be closed.
