A lightning strike damaged a home in the 4300 block of Tason Drive on Tuesday as thunderstorms rolled through the area.

The home off Lake Prince Drive was damaged about 2:26 p.m., according to a press release from city spokeswoman Diana Klink. Rescue units arrived to find that a tree branch had fallen onto the chimney, which then caused bricks to fall onto and damage the gas line to the home. The air conditioning unit and siding also sustained damage.

Virginia Natural Gas responded to the scene to secure the gas line. There was no active fire and no injuries, Klink said.
