Leigh finishes solid round in VSGA event

The first Virginia State Golf Association Super Senior Four-Ball Championship concluded its initial round on Wednesday with Suffolk golfer J.P. Leigh part of a tandem in seventh place at the Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club.

Leigh and Murray Rudisill of Portsmouth combined for a 2-under round of 68. Two teams are currently tied for the lead with scores of 65 going into today’s final round.

According to the four-ball format, each player in a tandem plays his ball into the hole, with only the best score being counted toward the team aggregate.

Further down the leader board, Glenn Owens of Suffolk and Virginia Beach’s George Owens combined for a 74.

Leigh and Rudisill tee off today at 9:30 a.m. and the Owens tee off at 8:20 a.m.
