Irving G. Davis

Irving G. Davis, 86, passed away Sept. 18, 2013.
He was born in Essex County, the son of the late Lillian and Preston Davis. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Irving was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and attended the Lee Jackson Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and was formerly active in the Suffolk Peanut Fest and Suffolk Golf Association. Irving retired from Davis LP Gas after 40 years; he also owned other businesses in the Suffolk area and cooked for the local soup kitchen for a number of years.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Beulah T. Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Susan Davis Fowler (Carroll); sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen G. Davis (Connie), all of Suffolk, Timothy R. Davis, of Falls Church; grandchildren and their spouses, Mark Fowler (Tiffany), Brian Fowler (Amy), Lukas Davis, Nicholas Davis and Carly Davis; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Haley and Avery Fowler; sister, Peggy Davis Dix, of Caret; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Jim George officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday afternoon for a time of visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
