Rebecca “Becky” Capps Evans, age 73, passed away Oct. 19, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church, 100 Kilby Shores Drive, Suffolk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Capps and Lillie Mae Woodall Capps; sister, Lottie Capps Jordan; brothers, William O. Capps, Chester Capps and Charles Capps; and her son, Talmadge “Tony” Eugene Evans. She is survived by a granddaughter, Ashley Evans; two special nieces, Avis Jordan Mooring (Phil), and Iris Kay Jordan; a nephew, Gary Jordan (Mary); and niece, Jaretta Capps Smith (Len).

Becky was born Oct. 24, 1939, in Johnston County, N.C. At age 10, her family moved to Suffolk. In 2011 she moved to Wilson, N.C., to be near her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, a friend to many, always welcoming friends and family into her home. She retired after many years working as a meat wrapper and found great contentment in just being at home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Horton Wreath Society, 1401 Trapelo Court, Virginia Beach, VA 23456 to support wreaths for veteran’s graves at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
