Darrin LaShawn Thorpe Sr., 29, departed this earthly life to be with his Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as a result of an automobile accident.

Darrin accepted Christ at a young age and was an active member of Faith Temple Ministries (Apostolic) for many years. During his adult life, he joined Heaven on Earth Ministries and was currently a member of Joy Apostolic Ministries.

He was a graduate of Lakeland High School and was currently employed with Terminix as a technician. He was a former member of the King’s Kids of America Inc. and the Prevent Program.

Darrin was predeceased by his son, Darrin Thorpe Jr., and grandfather, Sylvester Thorpe.  He leaves to cherish his memory his two precious daughters, Breanna Neveah Thorpe and Ariyanna Nicole Lewis. Also his mother, whom he truly loved, Pastor Brenda T. Parrish, stepfather, Minister Steve R. Parrish, and father, Frederick Scott, all of Suffolk. His sister, Jalesia G. Parrish, grandparents, Vertley Thorpe and John and Virginia Parrish, and his faithful fiancée Ashley Gore. His special uncle Buddy, who was like his brother and with whom he spent many Sundays watching football. Also a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends, whom he loved with all his heart.

Darrin will be remembered by all for his hugs and kisses for everyone he came in contact with. He was an affectionate person with a very giving heart.

Homegoing services will be held at Faith Temple Ministries, 476 Wellons St., on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The family will receive guests at his parents’ home at 218 Jouster Way, Suffolk, from 1 to 8 p.m. Harris Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
