Fire crews put out coffee blaze

Coffee lovers, weep.

About 3,000 pounds of Colombian coffee were destroyed in a fire in a coffee hopper at the Massimo Zanetti Beverage plant in the 1300 block of Progress Road Wednesday night.

There were no injuries.

Emergency dispatchers received the call about 9:53 p.m. about the fire, and they arrived five minutes later.

They found heavy smoke in the interior of the building, and 60 employees were evacuated to the nearby J.M. Smucker (formerly Sara Lee) facility.

The fire was called under control at 10:54 p.m., and the evacuated employees returned to the premises.
