Museum volunteers recognized

Volunteers at the Virginia Living Museum were thanked for their many hours of service to the museum and its visitors with a dinner and recognition ceremony at the museum in October.

Brad Halcums and Pam Courtney, both volunteers at the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, were recognized at a ceremony in October for reaching volunteer milestones.

Brad Halcums, of Suffolk, received an Energizer Bunny Award for serving 500 or more hours in one year. He also reached a service milestone of 3,000 hours.

Pam Courtney, also of Suffolk, reached a service milestone of 2,500 hours.

The museum has more than 500 active volunteers. In 2012-13, volunteers contributed about 39,710 hours of service, the equivalent of 20.5 full-time positions.
